The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International has estimated that the pilotless aircraft industry is expected to create more than 23,000 U.S. jobs over the next 15 years. In response to this growing industry, WEI has partnered with Gulf Unmanned Systems Center to create a Certificate in Unmanned Technology Applications.

This unique twelve-week program focuses on how to use aerial, surface and underwater unmanned vehicles, or drones, in different environmental applications. Instruction happens in the classroom and hands-on in the field. Upon completion students will have a working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations governing UAS flight and use, the optimal process for collecting, processing and interpreting data, and fundamental characteristics of each of the vehicle systems.

Gain knowledge about all unmanned systems.

The program is designed to provide an introduction to drones/unmanned technologies, particularly when utilized to perform tasks supporting environmental monitoring and management. Course work is divided into three distinctive areas:
Introduction to drones/unmanned technologies
Application of drones/unmanned technologies to environmental issues
Hands-on lab working with unmanned technology systems
Classes will be held at the WEI campus in Crawfordville, FL and includes three hands-on practicals outside of class time.
